Elevate Your Lists with Aesthetic Bullets
Bullet points are the unsung heroes of organized content. The right bullet symbol can transform a plain list into an aesthetic statement, adding personality and visual interest to your social media bios, notes, and messages.
While standard bullet points (•) get the job done, there's a whole world of decorative alternatives waiting to be discovered. From elegant geometric shapes to whimsical symbols, the perfect bullet can match any aesthetic.
Whether you're creating a bio list, organizing information in a post, or decorating your profile, these bullet points add the polish that makes content stand out.

- ⁃ Hyphen Bullet: Minimal and clean.
- ★ Star Bullets: Eye-catching and decorative.

Using Bullets in Social Media Bios
List Your Interests: Create scannable lists of what you're about:
"✦ photographer
✦ coffee lover
✦ traveler"
Highlight Services: If you're a business or creator:
"◆ portraits
◆ events
◆ weddings"
Show Achievements: Display accomplishments elegantly:
★ featured creator
★ brand partner"
Matching Bullets to Your Brand
Choose bullet points that reflect your personal brand. Minimalist aesthetics pair well with subtle bullets like · or ◦. Glamorous or luxurious brands might prefer ◆ or ✦. Nature-focused accounts could use ❀ or ✿.
Consistency is important—use the same bullet style throughout your bio for a cohesive, professional look.
How to Make a Bulleted List in Discord
Discord supports real bulleted lists through Markdown—you don't need to paste a symbol. To create one, start a line with a hyphen and a space (- ) or an asterisk and a space (* ). When you send the message, Discord automatically renders a proper bullet (•) with clean indentation. This works in any text channel, in DMs, and on desktop, web, and the mobile apps.
Copy this block, paste it into the Discord message box, and hit Enter to see it formatted:
- First item - Second item - Third item
To nest a sub-point, indent the line with two spaces before the dash. Discord turns indented items into a hollow sub-bullet (◦):
- Main topic - Sub-point - Another sub-point
A few things to remember: the space after the - or * is required, numbered lists work too (start lines with 1.), and you can combine bullets with other Markdown like **bold** or *italics*. If you'd rather have a fixed symbol that never changes—handy for a server name, channel topic, or a custom status—paste a Unicode bullet from the grid above instead of using Markdown.
Bullet Point Symbols to Copy
When you want a literal character rather than Markdown formatting, these Unicode bullets paste cleanly into Discord, Instagram, TikTok, and almost anywhere else. Click any one to copy it:
- • Bullet — the default, all-purpose list marker. Best for standard bios and notes.
- ◦ White Bullet — a hollow dot, ideal for sub-items or a lighter, airier look.
- ‣ Triangle Bullet — a directional marker that suggests "next step" or a menu item.
- ▪ Small Square — a compact, modern dot for tight lists and tech-style layouts.
- ▫ White Square — the hollow version of the square, good for unchecked or pending items.
- ‒ Figure Dash — a clean dash bullet when you want a minimal, typewriter feel.
- – En Dash — slightly wider than a hyphen; a popular, understated bullet for bios.
Bullets for Instagram & TikTok Bios
Instagram and TikTok bios don't support Markdown, so the Discord trick of typing - won't render a bullet there—it just shows the dash. Instead, paste a real Unicode symbol at the start of each line. Compose your bio in your phone's Notes app first (where you can add real line breaks), then paste the finished block into the bio field.
A simple, on-trend layout looks like this:
"✦ content creator
✦ based in LA
✦ dm for collabs"
Keep it to one bullet style per bio for a tidy look, lead each line with the symbol followed by a single space, and reach for subtle markers like ◦ or – for a minimal aesthetic, or decorative ones like ✦ or ❀ when you want more personality. The same symbols work in TikTok bios, YouTube descriptions, and Discord "About Me" sections.
